WELCOME MESSAGE
I welcome you to the Department of Sociology, housed by the Faculty of Social & Management Sciences of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, West Africa. The Department has thirteen Academic and three Administrative Staff with well-defined interests in Population Studies, Linguistic Anthropology, Industrial Sociology, Criminology, Medical Sociology and Sociology of Development. A training at both the graduate and postgraduate levels in the department, offers a balanced combination of courses, to develop students’ ability to observe, fully understand, analyse, and efficiently process social
data in relation to socio-economic problems while using sociological methods and techniques that will enable them to form valid and purely disinterested opinions; and, thereby, contribute to national goals as well as improve the human socio-economic and political conditions. The Department is currently chaired by Dr ARUNA JUSTINA OLUFUNKE.
