Sociology Admission Requirements
Candidates seeking admission into the Department of Sociology must satisfy the University admission requirements i.e. credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Government and two other social science/arts subjects at not more than two sittings of WAEC/SSCE/NECO/GCE O/L). In addition, applicants must obtain an acceptable pass in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). UMTE subjects include English Language, Government and two other social science/arts subjects.
Direct Entry Candidates: the Department of Sociology admits candidates with Diploma certificate (at upper credit grade) from any higher institution recognized by the Senate of this University. The diploma must be in related courses such as Social Work, Social Policy, Social Administration, Criminology and Social Work, Public Administration, or other related fields as determined by the Department. In addition to satisfying the University admission requirement (i.e. Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Government and two other social science/arts subjects at not more than two sittings of WAEC/SSCE/NECO/GCE O/L).
