PRIVATE LAW HOD

HOD’s Welcome Message

You are all welcome to the Department of Private Law, Faculty of Law, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State of Nigeria.
The contributions of the pioneer Acting Head of the Department in the person of Mr. S. F. Ojomu are immense, as he worked tirelessly to develop the Department right from inception in 1999. Those contributions greatly facilitated my recent assumption of office as Acting Head of the Department.
The courses available at the Department are :
Law of Tort 1 & II,
Family Law 1 & II,
Land Law 1 & II,
Principles of Equity,
Law of Trusts,
Law of Succession and Conveyancing 1 & II.
The courses are offered at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The issues treated in them are central to the very existence of human beings. For this reason and with the exception of Family Law and the Law of Succession and Conveyancing, they are compulsory. They are compulsory in the sense that all students, most especially at the undergraduate level, must not only offer them but must also pass them before they can graduate from the Faculty.
In this way the Department has keyed-in to the vision and mission of the Faculty, as the courses available there will contribute immensely to the training of legal practitioners who are capable of thinking beyond the constraints of national boundary, thereby contributing to the overall development and upliftment of the human race.
The Department enjoys the services of qualified and seasoned academics that are always willing and ready to impart knowledge embodied in the courses mentioned herein to students. I appreciate their efforts and contributions and, particularly, their cooperation with me in the leadership of the Department.
It is with great joy and honour that I welcome students, colleagues, the University community and the general public to this Department of ours that touches every facet of human existence and endeavours through its numerous courses.
Do have an exciting time as you look through our Department.
Dr. Philip ODIASE.
Head of Department.
