WELCOME MESSAGE
The Department of Agronomy is one of the Departments in the Faculty of Agriculture of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, established in 2014, which officially took off in 2014/2015 academic session. The Department offers B. Agric (Honours) in Agronomy of the Institution. The Department currently has undergraduate students for 2014/2015 academic session. The students in the Department offer the same science-based courses at the 100 level as their counterparts in the Faculty of Science but are to offer Agriculture-based courses from 200 level. The University has provided facilities and conducive environment for teaching, learning and research. There are functional and well-equippedteaching and research laboratories, lecture rooms, administrative offices and office accommodation for academic staff. The academic programme of the Department is in line with the National Universities Commission (NUC) Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards. The vision of the Department is in tandem with that of the University, which is to produce graduates with adequate theoretical and practical knowledge for self-reliance, and for postgraduate studies both locally and internationally. The graduates of the Department are to be self-employed and employers of labour. The Department is to provide efficient services in consultancy and training programmes to the agricultural sector of Nigerian economy, and to contribute to local, national and global efforts in ensuring food security.
