I welcome you all to the Department of Banking and Finance. The Department was among the Departments that relocated from the then Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, in 1999. It is the philosophy of the Department to continuously strive for excellence in its programmes and services and as such excited about what the future holds for the Department. This involves providing the students with the highest international standards in education in the field of Finance.
The study of Banking and Finance requires a blend of analytical, evaluative and descriptive skills and can be very challenging and rewarding. There is no doubt that the Department provides the best opportunities to those who are willing to accept the challenge and take off to a bright future and a successful career. Graduates of Banking and finance have excellent job opportunities in private financial institutions as well as in key government ministries and agencies. A Degree in Banking and Finance prepares students for careers in Banking, Investment Houses, Savings and Loans Institutions, Credit Unions, Credit Management, Government and Corporate Organizations, Universities and Polytechnics, Small and Large establishments, Accounting and Stock Broking Firms, etc. Our qualified staff brings relevance to the classrooms and continuously advances the state-of-the-art knowledge about various topics/issues by translating their cutting-edge research contributions into classroom illustrations.
Our enrolment has steadily increased over the last fifteen years. Students in the Department actively participate in the activities of the University and the Faculty, as well as of the various student organizations on campus. The Department organizes annual conferences to which personalities form the academia, banking and public and public sectors are invited to present papers. The Department was the first to organize such a conference in the University. This achievement, which is unique, makes the Department, as claimed, actually offers its students, quality education and unique academic and professional opportunities in a 21st Century University, properly called.
